PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Thaksin Klahan (ranked 4322 p4p, 4180 weight class) and Cocane Kodak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Thaksin Klahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cocane Kodak !
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Klahan throws a head kick but Kodak moves out of range.
Klahan showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kodak .
Kodak wants to slow Klahan down by chopping away at his legs.
Klahan tries to counter with a takedown but Kodak is quick to defend against it.
Klahan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kodak defends it nicely.

Kodak gets in close and instigates a clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kodak breaks the clinch.

Klahan drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Klahan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Klahan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kodak , who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kodak can't do much from the bottom here.
Kodak is pushing Klahan's head away, looking to escape. Klahan manages to hold on to the position though.
Klahan is looking to take a break and control but Kodak is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Klahan decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kodak to his feet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kodak looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Klahan.
Nice sprawl there from Klahan as Kodak shoots in.
Klahan closes the distance and clinches up with Kodak , looking for a takedown. Klahan pushes Kodak against the cage but Kodak circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thaksin Klahan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kodak has managed to clinch.
Kodak is trying to pull guard but Klahan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Kodak misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Klahan.
Klahan tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Kodak avoids it.

Klahan tries to break free but Kodak pushes him back against the cage.
Kodak is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kodak fails to pull guard.
Klahan is trying to force a seperation but Kodak has the dominant position.

Kodak pulls Klahan into guard.
Kodak looking for a sweep. Not yet Kodak , not yet.
Kodak controlling the position.
Klahan wants to control from the top but Kodak keeps moving.
Klahan advances to half guard.
Klahan not doing much here.

Klahan decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Klahan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kodak as he avoids it easily.
Klahan wants to clinch.
Klahan wants to clinch up but Kodak keeps it at a distance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Kodak clinches.
Kodak is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Kodak takes an elbow to the temple.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cocane Kodak will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Klahan gets tackled into the cage by Kodak . Kodak maintains the clinch.
Klahan is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kodak .
Kodak tries to pull guard but Klahan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Klahan tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Klahan wants a takedown but no success here.

Kodak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Klahan throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

It looks like Cocane Kodak has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kodak shoots in and drives through. Klahan sprawls well.
Klahan appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Kodak shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Klahan but Klahan pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thaksin Klahan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cocane Kodak .
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kodak .

Kodak pushes Klahan up against the cage in a clinch.
Klahan throws an elbow but it misses.
Klahan on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Kodak unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Klahan stalling in the clinch but Kodak improves position.

Kodak breaks from the clinch.

Klahan darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Kodak is looking to get back to is feet but Klahan passes into side control.

Klahan tries for a kimura but Kodak is defending well.
Kodak is not content to let Klahan control the position.
Klahan grinds an elbow into Kodak 's temple.
Kodak is not content to let Klahan control the position.
Klahan working the head and body with strikes.

Klahan tries to advance to mount but can't.
Klahan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kodak keeps working.
Kodak is looking to reverse the position.

Klahan looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Klahan lands a few punches from side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Klahan wants to control but Kodak is keeping him busy.
Klahan cracks Kodak with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Klahan scores with punches from side control.
Kodak is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kodak regains half guard there - taking advantage of Klahan's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kodak won't allow Klahan to pass to mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Thaksin Klahan dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Cocane Kodak 's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Kodak moves into the clinch successfully.
Kodak works on Klahan's body with a couple of short punches.

Kodak manages to break the clinch.
Klahan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Klahan cracks Kodak with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kodak doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Klahan counters with a two punch combo.

Kodak stuffs the takedown attempt from Klahan. Klahan gets slowly back to his feet.
Kodak fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Klahan tries to clinch but Kodak moves away
and Kodak counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Kodak moves into range and clinches up with Klahan.
Kodak is working for takedown but Klahan is calmly controlling the position for now.
Kodak has Klahan pushed against the cage.
Klahan tries to pull guard but Kodak forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
A short right from Kodak on the inside.
Klahan drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Thaksin Klahan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kodak misses with a knee to the head.

Kodak pulls Klahan into guard.

Kodak lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Klahan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kodak is aware though and is defending well.

Klahan is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kodak defends well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kodak is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kodak throws an elbow that misses. Klahan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kodak 's guard. Nice move by Klahan!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kodak is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Klahan wants to control from the top but Kodak keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kodak is on top in guard.

Kodak working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Klahan looking for a sweep. Not yet Klahan, not yet.
Klahan keeping full guard, as Kodak tries to pass.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kodak won't allow Klahan to sweep him here.
Klahan is looking to stand up but Kodak isn't so interested in that idea.
Klahan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Kodak wants to control but Klahan is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kodak is looking to improve his position.
Kodak keeping control of the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cocane Kodak comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Kodak has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
