Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rich Voss (ranked 2089 p4p, 2798 weight class) and Curtis Rome (ranked 261 p4p, 328 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rich Voss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 13 - 3, fighting out of Amsterdam, Curtis Rome!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rome darts in looking for a takedown but Voss gets double underhooks and turns Rome into the cage.

Rome bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Rome wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Voss, who protects the arm well.

Rome swings around for an armbar but Voss sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rome's guard.
Rome has momentary wrist control but Voss slips an elbow through the middle.

Rome is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rome is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rome looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Rome seems to be looking for submissions.

Rome is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Voss has managed to free his arm - good work.

Rome wants to pass to mount but Voss is defending the position.
Voss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Voss wants to control but Rome passes into side.
Voss can't do much from the bottom here.
Rome has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Voss!
Rome takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.

Rome has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Voss is in a bad position with Rome working for a choke. Voss manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
Rome looking to control.
Rome has momentary wrist control but Voss slips an elbow through the middle.
Rome is pulling down on Voss's head. It's preventing any offense from Voss, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Voss seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Voss trying to control the position from guard on top but Rome is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rome looking for a sweep. Not yet Rome, not yet.

Voss works over Rome with some ground and pound from guard.

Rome keeping moving, preventing Voss from controlling successfully.
Voss working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Rome's head.

Rome had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Voss defends it easily.
Rome is pulling down on Voss's head to control his posture.
Voss lands a couple of digs.
Rome is trying to keep Voss in close.
Voss is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Rome has his foot on Voss's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Voss works his way back into a safe position though.
Voss is working Rome over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Voss engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Voss scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Our spies down at at MMA Training and Sparring Buddies inform us that Rome has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Rome working for a triangle but Voss defends it easily.
Voss trying to control but Rome is working from the bottom.
Voss makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Voss won't allow Rome to sweep him here.

Voss is sitting in close to Rome's body. Rome has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Voss is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Voss is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Rome.
