Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Ferriera (ranked 4336 p4p, 4372 weight class) and Jimmy Slip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Ferriera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jimmy Slip! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slip shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ferriera as he jumps to the side. Rodrigo Ferriera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Slip will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Slip shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Slip was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Slip staying calm. Ferriera sneaks back into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slip stalling. Slip is looking to pass Ferriera's guard but actually Ferriera recovers to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferriera being controlled here, momentarily. Slip postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ferriera is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Slip, into his guard.
Slip looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Slip working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ferriera doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ferriera manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Slip keeping moving, preventing Ferriera from controlling successfully. Slip throws his legs up looking for a submission but Ferriera uses it to pass to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Slip tries to improve position but can't. Ferriera thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Slip tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ferriera wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on Slip's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ferriera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Slip, who protects the arm well. Slip manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ferriera's best efforts. Slip looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ferriera is looking to take a break and control but Slip is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Slip is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ferriera trying to control from half guard but Slip is working away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Slip gets full guard. Slip wants to sweep but no luck. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jimmy Slip will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ferriera throws a hook to the side of Slip's head but Slip sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Slip appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. Slip throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ferriera was covering up waiting for the punch and Slip finishes the takedown easily into guard. Ferriera is trying to keep Slip in close.
Ferriera being controlled here, momentarily. Ferriera can't keep his opponent in guard - Slip advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jimmy Slip has got the better of the ground game so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferriera is trying to control but can't.
Slip perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Slip takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Ferriera tries to get to full guard but Slip has control of the leg. Slip is looking for a kimura but Ferriera is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Slip to get the leverage. Ferriera has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slip is working away from the top position though. Ferriera is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Slip is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Ferriera is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Slip's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Slip's back! Ferriera tries to get the hooks in deep but Slip pushed the leg off. Slip has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Slip just trying to survive but Ferriera is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Ferriera keeps control of the position as Slip tries to break free.
Ferriera is looking for the choke from the back position but Slip is controlling his hands well. Slip tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ferriera wants to control the pace but Slip is squirming around nicely. Slip tries to hold on but Ferriera pushes him away. Ferriera tries to control but Slip wriggling away. Slip tries to reverse the position but Ferriera maintains control. Ferriera with shots to the head and body - Slip looks very uncomfortable down there. Ferriera seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Slip is holding on tight.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Slip is looking to get to half guard. Ferriera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Slip is looking to escape. Slip really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Rodrigo Ferriera will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Ferriera jabbing away but nothing is landing. Ferriera misses with a hook. Slip ducked under it nicely. Slip misses with a head kick.
Slip blocks a jab. Ferriera throws an overhand right that lands on Slip's shoulder, as Slip tries to avoid the shot. A slow jab from Ferriera misses its intended target. A bone on bone clash there as Ferriera blocks the leg kick.
Ferriera feinted with a counter takedown. A big right from Ferriera misses. Ferriera closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Ferriera has Slip pushed against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ferriera misses with a short punch on the inside. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Ferriera as Slip tries to tie him up. Ferriera manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ferriera tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Slip looking to slow down the pace here. Slip has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Slip tries to pull guard but Ferriera forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Ferriera is pushing Slip up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Slip takes a shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ferriera tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Slip jumps guard but Ferriera turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Slip blocks a body shot from Ferriera. Ferriera displaying some good clinch control by pressing Slip up against the cage. Ferriera slows down the pace here.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Ferriera for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Ferriera stalling.
Ferriera seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Ferriera misses with some punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Slip wants to break free but Ferriera has control.
Slip looking to slow down the pace here. Ferriera slowing the pace effectively. Slip wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Slip is trying to pull guard but Ferriera turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Rodrigo Ferriera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Slip. Slip looking to stall.

Ferriera gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A bit of stalling here from Ferriera.
