PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Donald Brasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Jesus Arvelado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Arvelado has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Jose Jesus Arvelado is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Donald Brasher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jose Jesus Arvelado!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arvelado rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Brasher moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Arvelado looks gassed!
Arvelado fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Brasher feints and as Arvelado raises his hands in defense, Brasher changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Brasher controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Arvelado is working an open guard so Brasher takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Brasher moves into the clinch successfully.
Arvelado is looking to break free of the clinch but Brasher has double underhooks.
Arvelado wants to break the clinch but can't.

Brasher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Brasher misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Brasher.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brasher stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Brasher closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Brasher is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Arvelado can't fight it off and eventually Brasher manages to take the fight to the floor. Arvelado looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
