Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pelo Dinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machida has chosen Baby By Me as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pelo Dinho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Victor Machida!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Machida bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dinho is pushing Machida's head away, looking to escape. Machida manages to hold on to the position though.
Machida scoring with punches and elbows.
Machida with the ground and pound but Dinho regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Machida is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Machida is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dinho doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Machida.
Machida prevents Dinho from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machida looks to land a strike but Dinho avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Machida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Machida wants to pass the guard but Dinho is keeping the position.

Machida drops back looking for a leg! Dinho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dinho manages to kick Machida off! Machida jumps back into Dinho's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Machida shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Machida has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Machida is looking to advance position but Dinho won't allow it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Machida should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Machida drops back looking for a leg! Dinho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dinho manages to kick Machida off! Machida jumps back into Dinho's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dinho moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Machida closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dinho circles away.
Machida stuffs the takedown attempt from Dinho. Dinho gets slowly back to his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Machida tries to keep at a distance but Dinho has taken the fight into the clinch.

Dinho drags the fight down to the ground.
Machida lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Machida throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Machida slips nicely into half guard.

Machida is looking for a kimura but Dinho is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Machida to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Machida looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dinho is fending him off so far but Machida persists. Nope, Dinho circles away and we're back to standing.

Machida shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Dinho is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Machida goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Dinho is on top in guard.
Machida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Machida looking for a guillotine here but Dinho defends easily.

Machida escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dinho gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Machida looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Machida has his foot on Dinho's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dinho works his way back into a safe position though.
Dinho has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Machida is proving hard to escape from.

Dinho avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Machida is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Machida had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Dinho is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Machida Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Dinho's back instead.

Machida is persistently looking for the submission but Dinho is defending it well.

Machida patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Machida is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Dinho knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Dinho for a finish.

Machida has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Dinho has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Machida looking to break Dinho's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Dinho remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Machida will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Victor Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Dinho is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Machida is controlling him well.

Machida has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Dinho! Can he survive? No! He's out! Machida gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
