Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sonny Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chan tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Day manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Day is looking to counter punch.
Chan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Day lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Day has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Doom's Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Day uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Chan takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Day connects with a jab.
Day connects with a solid leg kick.
Day connects with a nice looking jab.
Day lands an overhand right.
Day blocks the body kick.
Jab by Day.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A left and a right from Day both land. Nice combination.
Day scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Day lands a really nice looking cross but Chan seems unphased.
Chan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Chan walks into a left hand.
Chan is rocked!
Chan tries to clinch up.
Day's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Day duly obliges.
Chan is still on wobbly legs! Can Day finish him?
Chan takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Chan throws a head kick but Day moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Day connects with a jab.
Day cracks Chan with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Chan tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Day pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Chan is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sonny Day!
Sonny Day was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
