This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 0 losses; Derek Erwin! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 32 losses; Roman Boesku! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Erwin rushes Boesku and presses him up against the ropes. Erwin goes for a takedown attempt but Boesku pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Boesku is looking for a kimura but Erwin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Boesku to get the leverage. The fighters are battling for position here. Boesku might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Erwin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Erwin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Boesku manages to get himself to full guard.

Erwin stays in close to Boesku's body and controls the position. Boesku controls Erwin momentarily but Erwin frees himself.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Erwin looking to sit in guard and control but Boesku gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Erwin (6) vs (6) Boesku Boesku trying to control the position from guard on top but Erwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Erwin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Erwin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Boesku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Erwin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
