Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between First Try (ranked 4239 p4p, 4303 weight class) and Evert Norddahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, First Try!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Evert Norddahl!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Norddahl shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Try's guard.
Norddahl is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Try looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Norddahl passes into half guard.
Try is pressing down on Norddahl's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Norddahl is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Try is trying to control the position from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norddahl advances position into side control!
Norddahl wants to lay and pray for a moment but Try keeps working.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Norddahl controls the position from side control.

Norddahl is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Try is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Norddahl tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Norddahl has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Try tries to strike from the bottom but misses.
A lull in the action here as Norddahl stalls from top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Try tries to improve position but can't.

Norddahl is trying to get an arm triangle but Try is defending well.
Try is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Norddahl's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Try looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Norddahl passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Try!
Try tries to hold on but Norddahl pushes him away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Try is in all sorts of trouble here.
Norddahl controlling from mount.
Try is squirming around, avoiding Norddahl's attempts to control the action.
Try slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Try trying to control but Norddahl postures up.
Norddahl is trying to control the action in half guard but Try is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Norddahl is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Try!

Try tries to lock up and control but Norddahl gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Try is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Norddahl trying to control but Try is having none of it.
Norddahl tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Try really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Norddahl wants to control the pace but Try is squirming around nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Norddahl looking to control and managing it successfully.

Norddahl has hold of Try's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Try manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Evert Norddahl dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Try gets caught flat footed, as Norddahl shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Try keeping moving, preventing Norddahl from controlling successfully.

Try isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Norddahl stacks Try on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Norddahl!

Norddahl working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Try gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Try tries to reverse the position but Norddahl maintains control.
Norddahl controlling from mount.
Norddahl seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Try is holding on tight.
Try keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Try is trying to escape the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Norddahl controlling the pace for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Norddahl is continuing to stall.

Try reaches up and pulls Norddahl towards him, trying to control the position. Norddahl manages to get a guillotine from the mount though! This could be big trouble for Try! Try tries to roll over - now Norddahl is on the bottom but the guillotine is really deep and Try has to tap out! Great work there by Norddahl!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Evert Norddahl!
Evert Norddahl decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
