The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

LaCroix closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Butte prevents LaCroix from breaking the clinch.
LaCroix prevents the takedown attempt.
LaCroix misses with some punches.

LaCroix tries to work over Butte's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Butte wants to take the fight to the mat but LaCroix manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Butte wants the takedown. LaCroix is fighting it off but Butte persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in LaCroix's guard against the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Butte scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Butte drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and LaCroix dives on top into guard.

LaCroix must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

LaCroix is fighting to break Butte's control of his arms but Butte is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
LaCroix postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Butte quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! LaCroix has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Butte celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
