Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Mills (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Mills is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Cox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, John Mills! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mills avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A swing and a miss from Cox. Mills keeps the fight on the outside. No joy there for Cox, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mills scores with a takedown into Cox's guard. Cox controls Mills momentarily but Mills frees himself. Cox keeping full guard, as Mills tries to pass. Mills doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mills manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Mills had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cox is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mills Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cox's back instead. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cox defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mills thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Cox regains half guard. Mills trying to control the action but Cox is working from the bottom. Mills passes to full mount! Mills controlling the pace for now. Mills looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Mills content just to control the position here. Mills looking to secure an arm triangle but Cox defends it well. Mills looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mills's face. Mills staggers backwards, shaken. Cox gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Cox takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Mills is fighting off a takedown attempt but Cox is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mills to the mat. Mills regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Mills is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Mills postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cox to stand up. Cox lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mills backs up against the cage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Cox closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cox lands in his opponent's guard. Mills trying to keep a closed guard but Cox is proving a slippery customer.
