PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jet Gunner (ranked 868 p4p, 1760 weight class) and Jean Lucroy (ranked 125 p4p, 251 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jet Gunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jean Lucroy!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paul Aken and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gunner cracks Lucroy with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A low kick from Gunner is predictable there

and Lucroy decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Gunner's guard.
My spies in Kaptajnernes Træningscenter inform me that Lucroy has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Gunner wants to get back to his feet but Lucroy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Gunner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gunner is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Gunner lands a right hand.
A short body shot lands from Gunner as the two fighters clinch.
Gunner lands an elbow inside.

It looks like Jean Lucroy has been cut.
Our sources have told us that Gunner has been working on his elbows in the gym.
Lucroy goes for a takedown in the clinch but Gunner prevents it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lucroy takes an elbow to the forehead.
A right hand to the body from Gunner.
Lucroy takes a shot to the head.

That has opened up Jean Lucroy's cut even more.
Lucroy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gunner fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gunner has taken the fight to the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lucroy wants a takedown but no success here.
Jet Gunner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Lucroy.
Lucroy has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Gunner is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Gunner lands an elbow that stopped Lucroy in his tracks for a moment.
Lucroy takes an elbow to the forehead.
Gunner lands a body punch.
Lucroy struggles to land a body shot inside as Gunner controls his hands.
Lucroy changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gunner fights it off and pushes away nicely.

The cut above Jean Lucroy's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

Gunner looking to score a takedown here. Lucroy is defending well but Gunner drives through and ends up in Lucroy's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gunner's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Lucroy is striking but Gunner is not phased and passes to half guard.
Gunner is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Lucroy reverses the position - he's now on top in Gunner's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lucroy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Lucroy stops Gunner from standing up.
Gunner has momentary wrist control but Lucroy slips an elbow through the middle.
Lucroy prevents Gunner from getting back to his feet.
Lucroy throwing strikes but missing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lucroy in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Gunner has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Lucroy is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Gunner doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gunner has Lucroy pushed against the cage.
Gunner creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Lucroy is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gunner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Gunner tries to work over Lucroy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Lucroy is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Gunner pushes Lucroy back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Gunner can't find room to land a body shot as Lucroy controls the action.
Gunner has Lucroy pushed against the cage.
Lucroy has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gunner avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Lucroy takes an elbow to the forehead.
Gunner struggles to land a body shot inside as Lucroy controls his hands.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Gunner.

Jean Lucroy's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jean Lucroy's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jet Gunner!
Our winner, Jet Gunner, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
