Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Zovalk (ranked 4333 p4p, 4172 weight class) and Jack Jefords (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sergei Zovalk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Jefords!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zovalk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jefords sprawls well initially but Zovalk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Jefords is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zovalk landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Jefords throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Zovalk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Well, if Zovalk is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are battling for position here. Jefords manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Zovalk is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Zovalk goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Jefords is on top in guard.

Zovalk is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zovalk has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Jefords got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zovalk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jefords has managed to get both his arms back between Zovalk's legs - danger averted.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jefords looking to sit in guard and control but Zovalk gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Zovalk seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jefords should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Zovalk changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jefords looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Zovalk is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jefords is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Zovalk's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Sergei Zovalk overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jefords tries to lock up and control but Zovalk gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

BOOM! Zovalk connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Zovalk tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Zovalk seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jefords for as long as he can get away with.
Jefords is trying desperately to improve position.
Zovalk content just to control the position here.

Zovalk is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jefords can't keep his opponent in guard - Zovalk advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Zovalk uses his free foot to push down on Jefords's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jefords.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Zovalk, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
