PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chao Wang (ranked 5043 p4p, 4261 weight class) and Louis Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chao Wang has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chao Wang seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chao Wang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Louis Cane!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wang looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wang in particular looking to stall.

Wang decides to stand and escape the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wang fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Cane to the ground. Wang is now in Cane's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wang decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cane, up you get!
Chao Wang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cane is looking to clinch.

Cane gets caught flat footed, as Wang shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wang sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Wang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wang seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Wang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Cane is working an open guard so Wang takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Wang throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cane let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Cane blocks a head kick by Wang.
Wang smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
A big right from Cane misses.
Cane lands a jab to the nose.

Wang drives through and clinches with Cane against the cage.
Wang tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Cane prevents a takedown attempt there.
Cane softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Wang is trying to trip Cane. He has hold of a leg but Cane is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Wang persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Wang controls from within his opponent's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wang slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Wang lands an elbow.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Wang stands up and beckons Cane to his feet.

Wang gets a clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Wang lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Cane backwards.
Cane swings wildly with an uppercut but Wang uses good head movement to avoid it.

Wang pulls guard successfully.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chao Wang dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Good shot there by Cane.

Wang moves into the clinch.
Cane throws a head punch that misses.
Cane tries to circle away but Wang has him pinned against the cage.

Wang breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wang walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Cane checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Cane follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.

Wang closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cane to the mat! Cane manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wang sitting in guard here, content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cane is working an open guard so Wang takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Wang manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cane on his heels. He'll look to pass Cane's guard now, I'm sure.
Wang controls from within his opponent's guard.
Wang seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cane for as long as he can get away with.
Wang has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Wang decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cane attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Cane throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cane swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Wang shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cane manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wang passes Cane's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Wang stalling.
Cane is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wang is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Wang looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wang with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Chao Wang dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Wang wants to clinch.
Cane scoring well with a low kick there.

Wang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cane looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Wang controls the position from side control.
Wang advances nicely into full mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wang is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Cane has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wang lands a heavy elbow.
Wang controlling his opponent.
Wang with a couple of short strikes.
Wang takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Chao Wang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cane is looking to improve his position but Wang isn't that keen on the idea.
Louis Cane has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cane in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Wang sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Wang has isolated one of Cane's arms. Cane looking to fight him off but Wang twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
