PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Elijah Ducan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Reese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Elijah Ducan has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Elijah Ducan seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Elijah Ducan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kyle Reese!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reese looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ducan is trying to stand up here but Reese is controlling him well.
Reese thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Reese thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ducan's head.
Ducan wants to control but Reese is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Reese missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Ducan holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Reese is looking to take a break and control but Ducan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Reese decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ducan's guard.

Reese slips a nice elbow through Ducan's hands, connecting with Ducan's forehead.

Ducan is staying active underneath Reese, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Ducan is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Reese pulls his head out easily.

Reese wants to free his trapped foot but Ducan is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Reese is keen to just control but Ducan is a slippery customer.
Reese is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

and Reese counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ducan keeping moving, preventing Reese from controlling successfully.
Reese forces his way into half guard.

Reese stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

and Ducan counters with a single leg into guard. Reese didn't expect that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reese is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Reese manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ducan manages to get himself to full guard.

Reese lands strikes from half guard.
Ducan keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Reese connects with a nice short shot to Ducan's temple.

Reese is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Reese decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Reese closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ducan is looking for a sweep.
Check out the look on Reese's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Reese is staying tight to Ducan's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Reese avoids the attempt from Ducan to control.
Reese lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Reese has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Reese cracks Ducan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Ducan is bucking up trying to escape but Reese cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Reese wants to lay and pray for a moment but Ducan keeps working.
Reese not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Ducan won't allow Reese to pass to mount.
Reese is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Reese wants to take a breather but Ducan is having none of it.
Ducan wants to control but Reese is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Reese prevents Ducan from improving his position.
Reese not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Reese misses with a takedown

and Ducan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Reese throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Reese kicks Ducan off and gets to his feet.
Elijah Ducan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Reese stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ducan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Reese is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Ducan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Ducan has escaped and now he's on top!
Reese bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ducan's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Reese with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ducan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reese wants to stand but Ducan is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ducan can't keep his opponent in guard - Reese advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ducan is looking for a sweep. Reese is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Reese lands a nice short elbow.

Elijah Ducan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kyle Reese is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Reese in particular looking to stall.

I would just about give that final round to Kyle Reese.
Well Reese has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
