This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 84 wins and 44 losses; Matvey Pavlov! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 32 wins and 27 losses; Bart Cubbedge ! The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Pavlov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Pavlov (2) vs (0) Cubbedge Still in half guard, Pavlov seems content to control. Pavlov is keen to just control but Cubbedge is a slippery customer. Pavlov prevents Cubbedge from improving his position. Cubbedge is still trying to improve position. Pavlov passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Cubbedge ! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pavlov can't control as he wanted to and Cubbedge manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Cubbedge won't allow Pavlov to pass to mount.

The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Cubbedge is looking to get to half guard. Pavlov trying to control but he's not successful this time. Cubbedge is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. We've been hearing good reports from Pavlov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pavlov controlling the position well here. Cubbedge rolled but Pavlov kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Cubbedge is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Pavlov off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
