This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 40 wins and 14 losses; John Lee! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 20 wins and 14 losses; Tommy Toehold! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Lee drives through and clinches with Toehold against the cage.
Toehold drags the fight down to the ground.
Lee sitting in guard here, content to control. Lee passes into half guard. Lee wants to free his trapped foot but Toehold is holding on for dear life with his legs. Toehold trying to control here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Toehold makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Toehold.

Lee has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Toehold seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Lee being controlled here momentarily. Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Toehold pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage. Toehold has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lee has passed into side control.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Lee tries to advance to mount but Toehold denies him. Toehold is looking to regain half guard here but Lee keeps moving and retains side control. Lee controlling from side mount. Toehold is trying to improve his position.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Lee controls the position. You can see the frustration on Toehold's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Toehold is trying to control Lee's posture but Lee avoids it.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Toehold is trying to get back to half guard. Toehold trying to remain calm as Lee controls from the top position.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Lee's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Lee passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Toehold! That's nine minutes gone in the round. Toehold sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Still in half guard, Lee seems content to control. Toehold is trying is best to control the position here. Lee is controlling the pace.

That's ten minutes gone in the round. Lee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Toehold knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Lee not doing much here.
Toehold is concentrating on defense, preventing Lee from advancing position.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Toehold is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Lee has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Toehold slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Lee's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Lee controls from within his opponent's guard. Lee won't allow Toehold to sweep him here. Toehold pulls Lee in close to his closed guard and prevents Lee from doing any damage or advancing position. Lee slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Toehold looking for a sweep. Not yet Toehold, not yet. Toehold seems keen to control Lee's posture. Lee preventing the sweep. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lee trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
