WPGC 5.5 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 30 losses; Ruben Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 9 losses; Disco Kid!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Paulo Santos.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?

Kid is looking to reverse the position.
Gracie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gracie looking to break Kid's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kid remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Gracie will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Kid is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gracie gets his way!

Kid is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gracie pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Kid tries to roll over but Gracie keeps him under control.
Gracie is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Kid doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gracie.

Gracie is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kid has managed to free his arm - good work.
Kid holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Kid thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Kid got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kid has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.
Kid trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.
Kid wants to pass the guard but Gracie is keeping the position.

Kid content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Gracie has locked up a guillotine! Gracie's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Kid is holding on here and Gracie must be using up a lot of energy. Kid has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Gracie gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
