WPGC 5.5 PBP Commentary |
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 28 wins and 29 losses; Prana Halo! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 8 losses; Long Wang!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Wang throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Halo tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Wang is in Halo's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Halo (0) vs (2) Wang
Wang tries to free his leg and advance position but Halo is retaining full guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Halo's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Halo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Halo can't keep his opponent in guard - Wang advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Wang has control of Halo's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Halo regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Halo tries to improve his position but Wang has taken his back! Wang has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Halo tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Wang pushes Halo away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Long Wang!
