Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Maymo Mayor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Welch!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Welch moves to clinch but Mayor breaks away
and Mayor counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Welch thinking.
Welch gets a clinch.
Mayor lands a nice uppercut.
Welch fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Welch is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mayor gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Welch breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Welch dives in for a single leg takedown but Mayor sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Maymo Mayor has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roman Welch.
Welch shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mayor sprawls well. Mayor wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Welch gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Welch closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mayor circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Welch or perhaps it was just good defense by Mayor, which made it look bad.
An attempted straight right counter from Mayor misses the target.
Welch looks winded!
Welch fails with the takedown
and Mayor counters with a nice right hand that sends Welch toppling to the canvas! Welch scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Mayor finish him?!
Welch is rocked!
It looks like Roman Welch has been cut.
BAM! Mayor delivers a spinning backfist that drops Welch like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
