Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mei Ozaki (ranked 3566 p4p, 3548 weight class) and Jack Fransisco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mei Ozaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Fransisco!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ozaki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fransisco is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Fransisco shoots in and gets a takedown into Ozaki's guard.
Fransisco must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Ozaki keeping full guard, as Fransisco tries to pass.
Fransisco is stalling in the full guard.
Ozaki might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fransisco postures up and lands a big shot to Ozaki's brow.
Ozaki is breathing heavily.
Ozaki is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Fransisco is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Fransisco pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ozaki is keeping the position for now.
Fransisco is looking to work some ground and pound but Ozaki has wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Fransisco throws a shot to the body.
Ozaki fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Fransisco is out of range.
Fransisco tries to counter by closing the distance.

Fransisco closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Ozaki bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Fransisco throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Ozaki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fransisco is in Ozaki's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ozaki looking for a guillotine here but Fransisco defends easily.
Ozaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fransisco is one step ahead there.
Fransisco looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Fransisco's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Fransisco tries to free his leg and advance position but Ozaki is retaining full guard.
Fransisco is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fransisco lands a couple of elbows.
Fransisco works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Fransisco is figuring out what he wants to do next.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Ozaki wants to improve his position but Fransisco is controlling well.
Ozaki trying to hold on to Fransisco's head to control him but Fransisco postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fransisco fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ozaki manages to avoid it.
Fransisco slaps away a takedown attempt from Ozaki, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Fransisco dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Fransisco closes the distance and clinches.
Ozaki tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Ozaki blocks a body shot from Fransisco.

Fransisco successfully pulls guard.
Fransisco looking for a sweep. Not yet Fransisco, not yet.
Fransisco can't keep his opponent in guard - Ozaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Fransisco trying to control from the bottom.
Fransisco is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ozaki seems to be looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fransisco trying to hold on to Ozaki's head to control him but Ozaki postures up.

Ozaki is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Fransisco is just riding it out for now. Ozaki eventually gives up the hold.
Fransisco has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fransisco preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Ozaki wants to pass the guard but Fransisco is defending well.
Fransisco tries to get to full guard but Ozaki has control of the leg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fransisco tries to kick Ozaki off but Ozaki keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Fransisco keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Ozaki passes to full mount!
Fransisco stops Ozaki from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
Fransisco is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jack Fransisco has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ozaki looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Ozaki fails to take his opponent's back.
Fransisco tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ozaki looking to take Fransisco's back but Fransisco rolls and after a scramble, Fransisco ends up on top in guard. Nice escape there from Fransisco to escape a tricky position.
Fransisco stays in close to Ozaki's body and controls the position.
Fransisco is continuing to stall.
Ozaki is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fransisco stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ozaki swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ozaki looking to hit a scissor sweep but Fransisco is one step ahead there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fransisco working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack Fransisco will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Fransisco closes the distance and pushes Ozaki back into the cage.

Fransisco manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fransisco looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fransisco has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Ozaki has passed into side control.
Ozaki throws a strike aimed at the side of Fransisco's head but Fransisco avoids it well.
Fransisco really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ozaki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ozaki is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fransisco has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fransisco has one of Ozaki's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
You can see the frustration on Fransisco's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

We've been hearing that Ozaki has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Ozaki wants to control but Fransisco is keeping him busy.

Ozaki wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Fransisco, who protects the arm well.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fransisco can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fransisco tries to bench press Ozaki off him but Ozaki keeps the position.

Ozaki tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ozaki has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fransisco is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ozaki tries to score with some ground and pound. Fransisco controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Mei Ozaki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jack Fransisco is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mei Ozaki showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Fransisco has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
