The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Benson clinches with his opponent.
Benson tries to land knees in the clinch but Peshernek avoids the damage to the body.
Benson is trying to break the clinch but Peshernek has him pressed against the cage.
Benson can't break the clinch.
Peshernek pushes off an throws an elbow but Benson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Peshernek scores with a shot to the side of Benson's head.
Peshernek throws an elbow but it misses.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Peshernek takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Benson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Peshernek has him pressed against the cage.
Peshernek lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Benson backwards.
Benson blocks an elbow strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Peshernek makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Benson is trying to push Peshernek away but Peshernek has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Peshernek lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Benson.

Peshernek is leaning against Benson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Peshernek keeps control of Benson as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Benson tries to circle away but Peshernek has him pinned against the cage.
Peshernek digs a right hand underneath Benson's ribcage. Benson let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Benson blocks an elbow strike from Peshernek.

Benson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Peshernek uses from the top position.

Peshernek stands and steps away. Benson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
