Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Walker! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Amwarr Ali! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker throws a right and a left that both miss. Roy Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ali tries a head kick but it misses.
Walker takes the fight into the clinch. Ali tries to pull guard but Walker holds him up against the cage and eventually Ali drops back down to his feet.
Walker lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ali backwards. Walker stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Ali is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Walker gets a trip takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ali looking for submissions off his back. Walker works his way into side control. Walker in side control lands a decent elbow. Walker working the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker working the ground and pound.
It looks like Amwarr Ali has been cut. Walker scoring with punches and elbows. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Walker is looking to take a break and control but Ali is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Walker is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ali is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ali struggling a bit here. Walker working the ground and pound. Walker lands a decent elbow from side control.
That has opened up Amwarr Ali's cut even more. Walker is looking to take a break and control but Ali is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ali tries to get back to half guard but can't. Walker landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The cut above Amwarr Ali's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ali takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Amwarr Ali's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Amwarr Ali's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Roy Walker! Roy Walker is the new welterweight champion!
