This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 18 losses; Chan Siam! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 38 wins and 35 losses; Able Archer! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Archer tries to keep at a distance but Siam has taken the fight into the clinch. Siam turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Siam manages to end up in side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Siam (4) vs (0) Archer Siam taking a breather here. Archer tries to bench press Siam off him but Siam keeps the position. Archer manages to work his way to half guard, despite Siam's best efforts. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Siam tries to pass the half guard into mount. Archer knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Siam has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Archer is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Siam has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Siam wants to control but Archer is having none of it. Archer wants to control the action but instead Siam gets a body lock and reverses into Archer's guard! Nice work! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Siam (12) vs (5) Archer Archer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Siam doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Siam manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Siam stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Archer swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Siam controlling from the top position. Archer is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Siam avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Archer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Siam's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Siam (12) vs (7) Archer My spies in Jed's Gym inform me that Archer has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Archer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Siam has Archer pulled in close to control his posture. It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Siam's shoulder. That is not cool. Archer in the domination position with Siam hanging on. Archer looking to control but instead Siam has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard. Archer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Siam doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Archer. Archer performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Score +3 for passing guard: Siam (12) vs (13) Archer Siam tries to buck Archer off but Archer is having none of it. Archer working away. Siam tries to get back to half guard but can't. Archer in side control, just content to control the action for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Archer tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Archer tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Archer trying to control the action but Siam is working from the bottom.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Archer controlling from side mount. Archer is looking to take a break and control but Siam is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Archer tries to advance to mount but Siam denies him. Who's going to make the next move? Archer tries to advance to mount but Siam instead regains half guard. Siam manages to get to full guard.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Siam keeping moving, preventing Archer from controlling successfully. Archer pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Siam is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Archer not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
And that's the end of the fight! Archer wins on points by 13 to 12. Able Archer is the new featherweight champion! A very excited looking Able Archer made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction. |
