Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ronan Morais! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Afonso Severo! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morais shoots in for a takedown but Severo shows good takedown defense. Severo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Morais's sensitive parts. Severo pushes Morais up against the cage in a clinch. Severo pulls guard effortlessly. Severo looking to control.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Severo holds on and takes a little breather. Morais postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Severo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Morais is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Severo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Morais's back instead. Severo biding his time, controlling Morais.
That's one minute gone in the round. Morais showing good submission defense here.
Severo keeps control of the position easily here as Morais tries to buck him off.
Morais rolls, trying to escape but Severo keeps control of the position.
Severo is looking to control Morais but Morais is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Despite being in the dominant position, Afonso Severo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Morais looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Morais stuffs the takedown attempt from Severo. Severo gets slowly back to his feet. Severo fails with an attempt to clinch.
Severo drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Morais is breathing heavily. Severo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Severo trying to control the position from guard on top but Morais is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Severo's corner is telling him to maintain position. Let's hope that Severo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Severo thows a big elbow that misses. Morais wants to stand but Severo is controlling the position. Severo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Severo wants to control from the top but Morais keeps moving. Severo controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Let's see what he's got on the mat. Severo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Severo has managed to clinch.
Severo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Afonso Severo dominated that round. That's time! Morais's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Severo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Morais looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Severo is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Morais is trying to improve his position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Morais is working hard here to advance position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Severo content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Severo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Severo trying to control the position but Morais is working away. Severo advances to full mount. Severo is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Severo scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Morais is looking for a way out. A lull in the action here.
Severo really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Morais.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Afonso Severo just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Severo tries to clinch but Morais is having none of it. Severo shoots for a double leg takedown but Morais sprawls well. He's pushed Severo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Severo shoots in but Morais avoids the takedown attempt easily. Severo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Severo gets control of Morais's arms and successfully pulls guard. Severo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Severo pulls Morais in to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Severo wants to sweep here but Morais controlling him for the moment. Morais throws a big right hand that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Afonso Severo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!
A jab from Severo does it's job there. Severo has his takedown stuffed and Morais holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Morais looking for a takedown. Severo has clasped his hands together around Morais's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Severo lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Morais down.
Severo tries for a kimura but Morais is defending well. Morais sneaks out the side door and pushes Severo away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Severo scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Afonso Severo has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Severo is nestled in close to Morais, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's one minute gone in the round. Severo seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morais does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Severo is thwarting Morais's attempts to control the position. Severo wants to pass to mount but Morais is defending the position. Severo moves into full mount! Morais won't be happy about that! Severo working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Morais looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Severo! Submission of the night perhaps?
