Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Engle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dwayne Austin!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Austin shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Engle's guard.

Engle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Austin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Engle is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Austin wants to pass the guard but Engle is keeping the position.
Engle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Austin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Engle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Engle throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Engle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Austin escapes and throws Engle's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Engle can't escape the position.
Austin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Engle tries to reverse the position but Austin maintains control.

Austin wants to control the pace but Engle is squirming around nicely.

Engle wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Austin.

Engle working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Austin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Austin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Austin shoots in for a double leg but Engle sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Engle feints and as Austin raises his hands in defense, Engle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Engle drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Austin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Engle has Austin in his guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Austin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Austin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Engle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Engle has his foot on Austin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Austin works his way back into a safe position though.
