The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Mafner throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Dresner was covering up waiting for the punch and Mafner finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mafner drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dresner manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mafner has Dresner in his guard.

Dresner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dresner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Mafner is looking to regain half guard here but Dresner keeps moving and retains side control.
Mafner is trying to control Dresner's posture but Dresner avoids it.

Dresner is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Mafner knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mafner is not content to let Dresner control the position.

Mafner gets back to half guard.
Dresner trying to control from half guard but Mafner is working away.
Mafner moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Dresner looking to pass the guard.

Mafner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dresner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dresner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mafner has his foot on Dresner's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Dresner works his way back into a safe position though.
