Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roman Richards (ranked 5224 p4p, 3484 weight class) and Roy Hinkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hinkle has chosen 3 Hour Tour as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roman Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Roy Hinkle! The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Richards shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Richards showed some decent athleticism there. Richards looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Hinkle is doing well to control the position and prevent Richards from advancing to side control. Hinkle moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hinkle can do anything to dispel that myth. Hinkle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Hinkle lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Hinkle is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hinkle postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hinkle stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Richards swivels though and keeps the full guard. Hinkle with a nice head shot there. Hinkle stands and throws Richards's legs to the side, diving into side control. Richards takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Hinkle takes a little break here. Richards wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Hinkle in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Hinkle takes a little break here. It looks like Hinkle might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hinkle lands a few punches from side control. Hinkle lands a nice forearm strike. Hinkle works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Hinkle connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Richards some visible discomfort.
Hinkle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hinkle takes a little break here. Richards wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Hinkle is continuing to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richards takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Hinkle landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Richards is rocked! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hinkle cracks Richards with an elbow. That is naaassty. Oh Richards is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hinkle working the ground and pound. A big shot lands for Hinkle! That's hurt Richards! Will he recover? Hinkle fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roy Hinkle! After the fight, Roy Hinkle was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
