PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Zombie Striker (ranked 4310 p4p, 4319 weight class) and James Dean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Zombie Striker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Dean!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striker wants to clinch up but Dean keeps it at a distance.

Dean closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Striker to the mat! Striker manages to get full guard.
Dean with a flurry of punches that miss.
Striker can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dean controls the pace.
Striker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dean on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dean pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Striker is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Striker being controlled here, momentarily.
Striker wants to control but Dean passes easily into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dean looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Dean passes to side control.
Dean scoring with punches and elbows.
Dean grinds an elbow into Striker's temple.

Dean stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Striker rushes Dean and presses him up against the cage.
Striker tries a body shot but Dean blocks it.
Striker lands a knee to the body.
Striker landing knees to the head.
Striker fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Dean gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Dean is standing up over Striker. Striker looks to escape but Dean dives into side control.
Dean has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dean is working Striker over with some ground and pound from side control.
Dean tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Let's hope that Dean has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dean has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Striker is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Dean yanks on the arm and Striker is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Dean.
