Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mark Norman (ranked 3227 p4p, 3203 weight class) and Andy Slappin (ranked 265 p4p, 264 weight class). Andy Slappin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Norman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Slappin!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slappin slaps away a takedown attempt from Norman, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Slappin feints the counter takedown.

Slappin forces Norman back against the cage and clinches.
Norman has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Slappin.
Norman swings wildly with an uppercut but Slappin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Norman jumps guard but Slappin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Slappin creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Norman's defenses.
Slappin landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Norman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Slappin avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Norman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Slappin obliges.

Norman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Slappin can't fight it off and eventually Norman manages to take the fight to the floor. Slappin looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Slappin keeping moving, preventing Norman from controlling successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Norman drops back looking for a leg! Slappin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Slappin manages to kick Norman off! Norman jumps back into Slappin's guard.
Norman not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Slappin keeping moving, preventing Norman from controlling successfully.
Slappin is looking to stand up but Norman isn't so interested in that idea.
Norman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Slappin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Norman passes easily into side control. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Norman tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Norman trying to control the action but Slappin is working from the bottom.
Norman working away.
Slappin is trying to improve his position.
Norman taking a breather here.

Norman has hold of Slappin's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Slappin seems comfortable defending it but Norman has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Slappin is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Slappin is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Norman couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Norman!
Mark Norman decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
