Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bartholomew Slice (ranked 3473 p4p, 1858 weight class) and Miyata San (ranked 284 p4p, 169 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bartholomew Slice!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Miyata San!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice uses good head movement to avoid the hook from San.
Slice swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Slice misses with a head kick.
Slice shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with San but San pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Slice has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Doom's Gym in the buildup to the fight.
San with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Slice to score with a decent uppercut.
Jab, jab by Slice - just one landing.
San shoots in but no luck this time.
A left lands for Slice.
San takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Slice tries to sprawl but San drives through with a takedown into half guard.
San thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Slice's head.
San seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Slice does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Slice manages to escape and get back to his feet!
A looping hook to the body misses from San. Slice does a little dance to reset his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Slice enables San to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Slice manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
San won't allow Slice to get back to his feet.

Slice is looking to stand back up but San counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Slice.

San lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Slice is trying to control but can't.
Slice on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
San working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
This has been an exciting period of action!
San is thwarting Slice's attempts to control the position.
San stalling away here and it's allowed Slice to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

San is working for a kimura but Slice is defending it quite comfortably.

San takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Slice looks like he's trying to stand up.

Slice is rocked!
San looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Slice with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Oh Slice is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Slice seems to have got his legs back now.

San makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's time! Slice's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Slice is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by San.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Slice pushes San off and scrambles back to his feet.
San tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Slice swivels and escapes.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

San uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Slice.

San closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

San has control of an arm but Slice manages to advance to San's back!

The fighters are working up against the cage. Slice manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

San ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. San no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

San has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Slice can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Slice postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! San is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Slice, into his guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
San takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Slice shoots in and drives through. San sprawls well.
Slice shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but San paws at him with a jab and circles away.
San shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Slice but Slice pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Slice slaps away a takedown attempt from San, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Slice lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A combination from Slice does no damage.
San feints the counter takedown.
Slice misses with a jab, cross combination.
Slice lands a jab-cross combination.
Slice lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Slice shoots in for a takedown but San shows good takedown defense.

San takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Slice clinches up against the cage.
San prevents Slice from breaking the clinch.

Slice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
San tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slice sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten San somewhat.
San fails to land the takedown.
Slice throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent San stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

San ducks under a wild hook from Slice.
San changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Slice, as that shot connected.
San on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Nice takedown defense from San. No joy for Slice on that attempt.
San fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Slice fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Slice swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by San.
Slice pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Slice connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between San's hands.
San keeps the fight on the outside.
And San tries to counter it with a takedown but Slice pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Slice throws a big shot that misses.
San with the counter takedown but Slice avoids it easily.
San shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Slice but Slice pushes him off and we're back to square one.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bartholomew Slice showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Slice has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
