PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Hammar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anders Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammar comes into the arena with STAIND blaring out of the sound system. Mousasi has chosen Bassie en Adriaan as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jack Hammar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Anders Mousasi!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mousasi walks into a straight right hand from Hammar.
Hammar tries to clinch but Mousasi moves out of range.
Hammar throws a sloppy head kick and Mousasi moves out of range easily.
Hammar tries a head kick but it misses.
Jack Hammar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mousasi shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mousasi showed some decent athleticism there.

Hammar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mousasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Mousasi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Mousasi must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hammar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mousasi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hammar has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Mousasi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hammar.

Mousasi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hammar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mousasi tries to control but Hammar wriggling away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mousasi fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Mousasi avoids the attempt from Hammar to control.

Hammar tries to hold on but Mousasi pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mousasi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hammar as he avoids it easily.
Mousasi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hammar misses with a few strikes there.
Hammar scores with a jab to the body.
Hammar misses with a two punch combination.
Mousasi avoids the head kick by Hammar.
Hammar avoids the head kick by Mousasi.
Nice takedown defense from Hammar. No joy for Mousasi on that attempt.

Mousasi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Hammar is trying to stand back up but Mousasi is controlling him
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hammar is refusing to be controlled, as Mousasi sits in half guard.
Mousasi trying to pass the guard but Hammar defending well.
Mousasi not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hammar makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
No luck for Mousasi with that takedown attempt.
Jack Hammar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anders Mousasi.
Mousasi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hammar.

Mousasi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Mousasi throws a strike but Hammar avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Hammar working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mousasi doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mousasi manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Mousasi is sitting in close to Hammar's body. Hammar has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Mousasi is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Mousasi is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Hammar.
