PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Corbiniano Piccirilli (ranked 4388 p4p, 4389 weight class) and Leopold LaFromboise (ranked 485 p4p, 484 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leopold LaFromboise!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling each other endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive.
Piccirilli cracks LaFromboise with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
A telegraphed right hand from Piccirilli misses the target.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Piccirilli walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
LaFromboise with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Piccirilli to score with a decent uppercut.

It seemed like LaFromboise was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Piccirilli slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

LaFromboise takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
The crowd cheers as LaFromboise lands an impressive looking overhand right. Piccirilli doesn't seem phased though.

It seemed like LaFromboise was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Piccirilli throws a hook but LaFromboise avoids it easily.
Piccirilli scores with the left hand. LaFromboise knows he should have avoided that one.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but LaFromboise might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Piccirilli has got the better of the exchanges.
LaFromboise needs to keep his hands up - Piccirilli had a free shot at his head there.

LaFromboise bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
LaFromboise ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Piccirilli, as that shot connected.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from LaFromboise in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

LaFromboise lands with a straight right. Piccirilli didn't see that one coming.
Piccirilli catches LaFromboise with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Piccirilli connects with a good right hand that stumbles LaFromboise. LaFromboise circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Piccirilli throws a lazy right hand but LaFromboise sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
LaFromboise swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Piccirilli is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that LaFromboise can do to turn this around?

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Corbiniano Piccirilli.
Well Piccirilli has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
