Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randjob Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shane Carwin! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carwin misses with a few strikes there.
No joy there for Carwin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Carwin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut. Carwin swinging wilding here.
Carwin throws a right and a left that both miss. Carwin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Carwin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Carwin throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease. Carwin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Carwin tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Gracie rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carwin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Carwin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Gracie counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carwin! Carwin looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Gracie controlling the position easily from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gracie is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Carwin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Gracie looking to secure an arm triangle but Carwin defends it well. Gracie looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gracie punishing his opponent with strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gracie controlling his opponent. Gracie throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Carwin has his hands clasped together but Gracie breaks the hold and Carwin is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Gracie!
