Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bakari Lawal (ranked 4240 p4p, 5388 weight class) and Matthew Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bakari Lawal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matthew Griffin! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Griffin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Griffin controls the position. Griffin looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Lawal is avoiding damage well.
You can see the frustration on Lawal's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Griffin landing a few strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Griffin is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lawal's shoulder. That is not cool. Griffin tries for a kimura. Griffin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Lawal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Griffin on the ground. Griffin stands up and we're back to a striking position. Lawal gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Lawal wants to get back to his feet but Griffin passes into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Griffin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Griffin seems to be looking for submissions.
Griffin is nestled in close to Lawal, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Griffin is figuring out what he wants to do next. Griffin throwing shots but Lawal is blocking nicely.

Griffin seems to be working for a kimura but Lawal defends the submission attempt. Griffin not landing any meaningful shots this time. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Griffin in particular looking to stall. Griffin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Lawal defending well though. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Griffin looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Griffin thows a huge punch but Lawal dodges it nicely.

Griffin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Griffin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Matthew Griffin has got the better of the ground game so far. Griffin prevents Lawal from escaping the position. Griffin is trying to land an Americana. Griffin scoring with punches and elbows. Griffin grinds an elbow into Lawal's temple. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Griffin working the ground and pound. Griffin in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Lawal is rocked! We've been informed that Griffin has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Griffin taking a breather here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round! Lawal scores with the left hand. Griffin knows he should have avoided that one. Griffin looking to score a takedown here. Lawal is defending well but Griffin drives through and ends up in Lawal's guard. Lawal not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Griffin postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Lawal badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Griffin around the waist but Griffin pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Griffin is the winner by TKO! Griffin jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
