Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vasily Khrapov Jr (ranked 1509 p4p, 1628 weight class) and Aslak Maitonaama (ranked 203 p4p, 219 weight class). Aslak Maitonaama told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maitonaama dives in and grabs Khrapov Jr's left leg, looking for a takedown. Khrapov Jr pushes down on Maitonaama's head and hops out.
Vasily Khrapov Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

And Maitonaama tries to counter it with a takedown but Khrapov Jr pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Maitonaama goes for a double leg but Khrapov Jr avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Khrapov Jr continues to drive forward.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

After the fight, Aslak Maitonaama was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
