Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Gambini (ranked 5300 p4p, 24994 weight class) and Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson Silva looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Gambini! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva closes the distance and clinches. Gambini throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Silva blocks it with crossed arms. Gambini is trying to pull guard but Silva has him pressed against the cage. Silva is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Gambini wanted to stand there but Silva had control of the position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Gambini won't allow Silva to sweep him here.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gambini fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gambini wants to clinch up but Silva keeps it at a distance. As Gambini backs off Silva throws a huge counter combo but Gambini manages to avoid it all. Gambini fails with the takedown. Anderson Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gambini has a takedown stuffed. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Gambini. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva rushes Gambini and presses him up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Gambini to score an easy takedown into full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gambini is defended easily by Silva. Silva is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gambini tries a head kick but it misses.
Silva tries to clinch up but Gambini circles away and keeps his distance. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gambini wants to stand but Silva is controlling the position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Silva tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gambini manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Gambini tries to keep at a distance but Silva has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gambini breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Silva instigates a clinch. Silva manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Gambini trying to control but Silva is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gambini passes easily into side control. Nice work. Paul Gambini overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gambini working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Gambini tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gambini has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Gambini is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily. Silva controlling the position well. Silva looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Silva is pressing down on Gambini's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gambini has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Silva keeping moving, preventing Gambini from controlling successfully. And that is the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round! Silva throws a hook but Gambini avoids it easily. Gambini shoots in but Silva avoids the takedown attempt easily. Silva is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Silva throws a big shot that misses. Silva slaps away a takedown attempt from Gambini, before circling back to the center of the mat. Silva fails with the takedown. The fight stays on the outside here - Silva looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva moves into the clinch successfully.

Gambini has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Silva off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gambini avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Silva. Silva working away. Silva tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gambini's legs. Silva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gambini sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Silva misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Gambini is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Silva is aware though and is defending well.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Paul Gambini is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Gambini swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Silva counter with a right hand. Silva rushes Gambini and presses him up against the cage. Silva breaks from the clinch.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Gambini enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gambini manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Gambini looking for a sweep. Not yet Gambini, not yet. Gambini looking to control.

And that's the end of the fight! Anderson Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Silva has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
