Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Bakarow (ranked 3441 p4p, 5853 weight class) and Makhmud Cherokee (ranked 422 p4p, 559 weight class). Cherokee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bruises. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sergey Bakarow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Makhmud Cherokee!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cherokee is defended easily by Bakarow.
Cherokee misses with a head kick.
Bakarow wants to clinch up but Cherokee keeps it at a distance.
Cherokee is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Cherokee forces Bakarow back against the cage and clinches.

Bakarow's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bakarow shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cherokee defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cherokee stuffs the takedown.
Cherokee pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Bakarow back to the cage. Cherokee follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
A combination from Cherokee does no damage.
Cherokee shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bakarow sprawls well. Bakarow wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cherokee gets slowly back to his feet.

Bakarow decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bakarow looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Bakarow postures up in Cherokee's guard and throws a big left but Cherokee blocks it.
Cherokee keeping moving, preventing Bakarow from controlling successfully.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A lazy body kick from Cherokee

and Bakarow counters with a single leg into guard. Cherokee didn't expect that.
Cherokee avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cherokee has momentary wrist control but Bakarow slips an elbow through the middle.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bakarow tries to stand but Cherokee is controlling from the bottom.
Bakarow is stalling in the full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bakarow prevents Cherokee from getting back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bakarow shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cherokee napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Bakarow wants to stand and escape but Cherokee is having none of it.

Cherokee gets to his feet. Bakarow looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

and Cherokee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bakarow jumps guard but Cherokee turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Bakarow has Cherokee pressed against the cage, preventing Cherokee from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Bakarow pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cherokee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bakarow moves away.
Bakarow throws a right and a left that both miss.
As Bakarow backs off Cherokee throws a huge counter combo but Bakarow manages to avoid it all.
Cherokee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bakarow is fending him off so far but Cherokee persists. Nope, Bakarow circles away and we're back to standing.
Bakarow changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cherokee tries to avoid it but Bakarow manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cherokee to the ground. Cherokee escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sergey Bakarow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bakarow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cherokee paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sergey Bakarow will probably get the nod.

Cherokee has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Bakarow after a bit of a struggle.

Bakarow has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cherokee avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Bakarow has Cherokee pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bakarow pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cherokee tumbling to the mat - Bakarow dives into Cherokee's guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bakarow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
