Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerald Davidson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ville Valo! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Davidson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Valo. Davidson taking punishment in the form of punches.
Davidson struggling a bit here. Valo connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Davidson some visible discomfort.
It looks like Gerald Davidson has been cut. Valo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Davidson has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Valo but great work by Davidson. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davidson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Davidson decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Valo gets caught napping as Davidson dives in and scores a takedown. Valo manages to retain guard. Valo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davidson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Valo pulls Davidson in close to his closed guard and prevents Davidson from doing any damage or advancing position. Valo is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Davidson has his hands clasped together but Valo extends and breaks Davidson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Valo.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ville Valo! After winning the bout, Ville Valo thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
