Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ki Ruyjini (ranked 1511 p4p, 1420 weight class) and Shape Shifter (ranked 232 p4p, 217 weight class). Ruyjini comes to the cage accompanied by 修羅の花 Shura no hana by Meiko Kaji. Ki Ruyjini has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruyjini jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ruyjini misses with a hook. Shifter ducked under it nicely.
We've been told by Ruyjini's head coaches at House of 1000 Corpses that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Ruyjini throws a jab but it's blocked by Shifter.
Shifter tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Shifter moves forwards but Ruyjini connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Shifter connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ruyjini loads up on a big right hand but Shifter slips the punch.
Shifter changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Ruyjini lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Shifter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ruyjini swivels and escapes.
Ruyjini quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

Shifter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ruyjini's half guard.
Shifter tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ruyjini knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Shifter is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ruyjini doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shifter.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shifter goes for an armbar but Ruyjini turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Ruyjini.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shifter is looking for a triangle but Ruyjini pushes his legs off easily.

Shifter is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Shifter working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruyjini doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruyjini manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
