PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hero Primo (ranked 2233 p4p, 3093 weight class) and Damar Sulekov (ranked 103 p4p, 145 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Hero Primo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damar Sulekov!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Primo gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Sulekov.
Sulekov throws a sloppy head kick and Primo moves out of range easily.
Good shot there by Sulekov.
Sulekov moves forwards but Primo connects with a nice, crisp jab.

It looks like Damar Sulekov has been cut.
Primo pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Primo circles away from the clinch attempt
and Primo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Primo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Sulekov's head.
Sulekov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Primo to counter with a crisp jab.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sulekov gets a clinch.

Primo breaks from the clinch.
Primo throws a looping overhand right but Sulekov ducks down to avoid it.
Sulekov wants to clinch
enabling Primo to counter with a crisp jab.
Sulekov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Primo misses with a hook. Sulekov ducked under it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sulekov uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Primo.
Damar Sulekov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Primo lands the left hand.

Sulekov looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Primo!
Primo parries the strikes from Sulekov easily there. Sulekov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Primo to escape.
Primo tries to buck Sulekov off but Sulekov is having none of it.
Primo can't do much from the bottom here.
Primo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sulekov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Primo is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Sulekov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Primo is trying to control but can't.

Sulekov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Primo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sulekov is working away from the top position though.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Primo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sulekov closes the distance and clinches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Primo breaks the clinch.
Hero Primo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sulekov moves into range and clinches up with Primo.
Sulekov tries to throw a body punch but Primo avoids it by throwing Sulekov back against the cage.

Sulekov manages to break the clinch.
Sulekov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Primo paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Sulekov closes the distance but Primo moves to the side
and Primo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

That has opened up Damar Sulekov's cut even more.
Primo misses with a body shot.
Primo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sulekov throws the left hand but Primo avoids the punch easily.
Primo thows a left - swing and a miss!
Sulekov wants to counter the offense by Primo and move into the clinch position.
Sulekov misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Primo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Primo connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Primo throws the left hand but Sulekov avoids the punch easily.
Sulekov lands a glancing blow to the side of Primo's head.

Sulekov closes the distance and clinches.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Primo has Sulekov pressed against the cage, preventing Sulekov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Primo manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Sulekov.
Sulekov fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sulekov slips a jab and a cross from Primo.
Sulekov listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Sulekov closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Primo quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Primo is trying to maintain the position but Sulekov is very close to passing his half guard.
Sulekov is trying to control the action in half guard but Primo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Primo manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hero Primo will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Damar Sulekov's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Primo scores with a nice right hand.
Sulekov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Primo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Primo is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Sulekov slips a jab and a cross from Primo.
Sulekov lands a really nice looking cross but Primo seems unphased.
Primo cracks a nice hook into Sulekov's ribs.
Sulekov uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Primo.
Sulekov throws a series of strikes that have Primo backpedaling.
Sulekov throws a sloppy head kick and Primo moves out of range easily.
Sulekov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Primo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Primo is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Sulekov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Primo tries to avoid it but Sulekov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Primo to the ground. Primo escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Primo fails to land with a series of punches.
Sulekov takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sulekov misses with a head kick.
Sulekov jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Primo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sulekov.

Sulekov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Primo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Primo thuds his right hand into Sulekov's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Primo leaves Sulekov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Hero Primo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damar Sulekov.
Sulekov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice straight punches there by Primo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Primo.

The cut above Damar Sulekov's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Primo lands a slapping body shot.
Sulekov is breathing heavily.
Primo missing with a left hand there. Sulekov was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Primo connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Sulekov's hands.
Donk. Primo catches Sulekov right on the button with a cross.

Damar Sulekov's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Sulekov ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Primo moves away.
Sulekov tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Primo counters with a nice uppercut.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Damar Sulekov's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Hero Primo!
Hero Primo seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
