Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Clarence Boston (ranked 3779 p4p, 4901 weight class) and Alkandros Vasilios (ranked 310 p4p, 352 weight class). Clarence Boston had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vasilios throws a big shot that misses.
Boston on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Vasilios misses with a hook.
Boston uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vasilios.

Boston tries to keep at a distance but Vasilios has taken the fight into the clinch.
Boston tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Vasilios fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Boston doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boston tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Vasilios.
I was talking to Boston's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

The fighters circle momentarily. Boston darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Alkandros Vasilios has been cut.

Vasilios manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Boston on his heels. He'll look to pass Boston's guard now, I'm sure.

Boston misses with a looping right.
Vasilios tries to counter with a clinch but Boston shakes him off and moves away.
Boston throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vasilios uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Boston has time to react.
A jab lands there for Boston.
Boston looks to land a combination. Vasilios sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Boston comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Vasilios changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Boston looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Vasilios creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Boston sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Clarence Boston.
