Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Valentin Taneyev (ranked 12 p4p, 13 weight class) and Wanderson Machado (ranked 3 p4p, 1 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Machado's choice of entrance music: El Barrio. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Valentin Taneyev!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wanderson Machado!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taneyev takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Machado fakes the leg kick and cracks Taneyev in the body.
Machado misses with a double jab
and Taneyev counters with a nice leg kick.
Machado looks for the body kick but Taneyev saw that one coming.
Taneyev throws a big counter combination but Machado scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Machado walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
It looks like Wanderson Machado has been cut.
Taneyev connects with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Machado follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Machado lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Taneyev lands with a slapping head kick.
That has opened up Wanderson Machado's cut even more.
Taneyev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Machado moves away.
A little jabbing left from Machado on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Taneyev throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Machado scores with a sloppy right hand. Taneyev should have avoided that one.
Machado misses with a body shot.
Taneyev appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Machado swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Taneyev is looking to counter punch.
Taneyev throws a hook to the side of Machado's head but Machado sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Machado looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

and Machado connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Taneyev lands a jab to Machado's midsection.
Taneyev takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Machado throws a leg kick but Taneyev checks it.
Machado throws a series of punches but Taneyev avoids them all with ease.
Machado goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Machado walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Taneyev checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

The cut above Wanderson Machado's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Machado tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Taneyev was well out of range. Poor timing from Machado.
A punch lands to the side of Taneyev 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Taneyev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Taneyev throws an overhand right that lands on Machado's shoulder, as Machado tries to avoid the shot.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Valentin Taneyev will probably get the nod.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Machado is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Taneyev.
It looked like Taneyev wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Wanderson Machado's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Taneyev on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Machado throws a leg kick but Taneyev moved away.
Taneyev seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Taneyev is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Taneyev cracks Machado with a good jab.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Wanderson Machado's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
