Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James McGuire (ranked 17865 p4p, 2800 weight class) and Hristo Borisov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - Enter Sandman . Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 29 - 24 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James McGuire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Hristo Borisov! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Borisov swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Borisov throws an off balance right hand
enabling McGuire to counter with a crisp jab. Borisov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McGuire is fending him off so far but Borisov persists. Nope, McGuire circles away and we're back to standing. It looked like McGuire was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Borisov. Borisov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGuire but McGuire pushes him off and we're back to square one. McGuire went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. McGuire leaves Borisov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. James McGuire has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hristo Borisov. A looping hook to the body misses from McGuire. Borisov does a little dance to reset his feet. Borisov wants to clinch and McGuire counters with a nice body shot. Borisov wants to clinch letting McGuire counter with a right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Borisov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McGuire was well out of range. Poor timing from Borisov. McGuire's corner calls for a 1-2. McGuire obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. McGuire lands a nice shot to the body.
Borisov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McGuire counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
That's one minute gone in the round. Borisov tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. McGuire takes a swing at Borisov's ribcage but misses. Borisov with a lazy takedown attempt and McGuire counters with a crisp one two that drops Borisov! McGuire thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Borisov to his feet! Borisov is in big trouble! Hristo Borisov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Borisov looks winded! Borisov shoots in looking for a takedown. McGuire tries to sprawl out of it but Borisov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGuire manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Borisov misses with a takedown and McGuire counters with a big right hand! Oh Borisov is in trouble here! McGuire follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James McGuire! An out of breath and clearly excited James McGuire thanked Velocity Fightwear for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
