The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Martinez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Jack sprawls well. Jack wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Martinez gets slowly back to his feet. Martinez moves into the clinch. Martinez looks more muscular than last time we saw him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Martinez tries to score a body lock takedown but Jack shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Cactus Jack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Javier Martinez. We've been told by Jack's head coaches at Blacksmith MMA Gym πΊπ² that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Martinez looking to score a takedown here. Martinez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Martinez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Martinez stopping the sweep attempt from Jack. Martinez controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Jack is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Martinez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Jack has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Martinez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Jack has tightened it up now! Martinez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
