Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mason Love (ranked 3314 p4p, 2746 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 191 p4p, 166 weight class). Love comes into the arena with HonestKey- Music blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Mason Love has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mason Love!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith lands with a right hand.
Smith shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Love pinned against the cage. Love gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A quick step to the side and Love tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Love throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Love does a little dance to reset his feet.
Love lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Love sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Smith slips under a jab.
Love throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Love misses with an uppercut.
Love takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Smith scores with a jab to the body.
Love pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Love keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mason Love has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.
Love has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Love there as he acknowledges the shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Love swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Smith throws a series of punches but Love moves out of range.
Love stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Love throws a jab when Smith was well out of range.
Love displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Smith connects with a crisp jab.
Smith has a takedown stuffed.
Love gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Smith misses with an uppercut. Love saw that one coming.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Love tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Love's guard.
Smith engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Love works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Smith throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Love seems keen to control Smith's posture.
Smith working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Love's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Love not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Smith is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Love is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Love working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smith.
Love has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle.
Love keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.

Love has control of Smith's left arm, preventing Smith from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Love moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Smith takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Love misses the shot to the body.

Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Love is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Love has one foot on Smith's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Love cracks a nice hook into Smith's ribs.
Smith uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Love.

Smith fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Love looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Smith misses with an uppercut. Love saw that one coming.

Smith closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Nice strikes from Smith there.
Love holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Love keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but John Smith will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

A decent looking cross lands there for Love.
Love takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and Love counters with a straight right hand.
Love tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Smith was well out of range. Poor timing from Love.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Love sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Love swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Love throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Smith closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Love quickly recovers to half guard.
Love works his way to full guard. Good work.
Smith postures up and lands a big shot to Love's brow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Love is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Love is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

John Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Smith's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Love is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Smith felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Smith tries to get to full guard but Love has control of the leg.
Love slows the pace down in half guard.
Love prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Love is working away from the top position though.

Smith is looking for a sweep. Love is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Love is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Smith makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Smith.
Love is fighting to break Smith's control of his arms but Smith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Love decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Smith gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Love.
Love steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.

Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Love defends it nicely.
Mason Love has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Smith.

Smith uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Love.
Love throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Love defends it well.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Love leaves Smith with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Love connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smith. Smith circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Smith lands a nice shot that snaps Love's head back.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Smith changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Love takes one to the chin there.
Smith throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Love counters with a huge left! Smith is in big trouble! He's backing up but Love isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Smith from any more damage. A dominating finish by Love!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mason Love!
During a confident post fight interview, Mason Love thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
