Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leo Cristophe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Suge Knight! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cristophe scores with a takedown into Knight's guard. Cristophe is looking to work some ground and pound but Knight has wrist control. Cristophe trying to control the position from guard on top but Knight is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cristophe missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Knight keeping moving, preventing Cristophe from controlling successfully. Cristophe passes Knight's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Cristophe decides to return to a standing position. The fight stays on the outside here - Knight looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Knight throws a hook but Cristophe blocks it. Cristophe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Cristophe is looking for a kimura here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cristophe not landing any meaningful shots this time. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Cristophe is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Knight doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Cristophe. Cristophe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Knight wants to control but Cristophe is keeping busy and won't allow it. Cristophe controlling the pace. Knight trying to control from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Cristophe is looking to take a break and control but Knight is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Knight just misses with a punch to the body.
Cristophe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Knight sprawls well initially but Cristophe persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Cristophe missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Knight is trying to stand.
Knight moves into full guard.
Cristophe looking to pass the guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Cristophe showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Cristophe drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Knight dives on top into guard. Knight really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cristophe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Knight has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cristophe is proving hard to escape from. Cristophe looking for a triangle here. Knight is fighting it but it looks tight! Cristophe pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Knight is tapping out - this one is all over!
