Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bo Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Owen Duncan! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duncan stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Duncan tries to counter by closing the distance. Duncan looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Duncan tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jackson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Duncan has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Duncan goes for a double leg but Jackson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jackson continues to drive forward. Jackson moves into the clinch successfully.
Jackson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duncan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Duncan sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Duncan is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bo Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Duncan tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Duncan to the ground. Duncan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good leg kick by Duncan. Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Duncan moves out of range easily. Duncan takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Duncan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Duncan let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Jackson stuffs the takedown attempt from Duncan. Duncan gets slowly back to his feet. Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown but Duncan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jackson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Duncan dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Duncan's head and hops out. It looked like Jackson was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson misses with a takedown attempt and Duncan counters with a one-two to the body. Duncan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Duncan somewhat. Duncan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jackson. Duncan lands a head kick. Jackson smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Jackson dives in for a single leg takedown but Duncan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Duncan let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Duncan manages to break the clinch.
Jackson shoots in but no luck this time. This has been an exciting period of action! Duncan goes for a double leg but Jackson avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Jackson continues to drive forward. A quick step to the side and Jackson tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duncan tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jackson swivels and escapes. Duncan gets tackled into the cage by Jackson. Jackson maintains the clinch. Jackson has had enough of the clinch but Duncan keeps him there for the moment. Jackson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Duncan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Jackson is looking to take this one to the mat. Duncan pulls Jackson into guard.
Jackson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jackson. Jackson looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Jackson gets a clinch. Duncan successfully pulls guard.
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duncan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Duncan is tightening it up a little... Jackson has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jackson reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jackson taps out! Nice BJJ there by Duncan!
