Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Albert Hofmann (ranked 1846 p4p, 2678 weight class) and Tonacatecuhtli Aztlan (ranked 250 p4p, 353 weight class). Hofmann comes to the cage accompanied by Trip Like I Do. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Albert Hofmann! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tonacatecuhtli Aztlan! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hofmann throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Aztlan was covering up waiting for the punch and Hofmann finishes the takedown easily into guard. Aztlan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Hofmann throwing strikes from guard but Aztlan blocks nicely. Hofmann in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Aztlan is trying to keep Hofmann in close.
Hofmann trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hofmann stops Aztlan from standing up. Hofmann trying to control the position from guard on top but Aztlan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Aztlan looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aztlan keeping moving, preventing Hofmann from controlling successfully.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Aztlan gets caught napping as Hofmann dives in and scores a takedown. Aztlan manages to retain guard. Aztlan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hofmann trying to control but Aztlan is working from the bottom. Hofmann definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Hofmann throwing strikes but missing. Hofmann is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hofmann postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aztlan keeping moving, preventing Hofmann from controlling successfully. Hofmann throws a big elbow that misses. Aztlan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Aztlan tries to land a sweep but no joy. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Aztlan is adopting a defensive guard.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Aztlan misses with a double jab
and Hofmann decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Aztlan's guard. Aztlan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hofmann is one step ahead there. Hofmann being controlled here momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aztlan is trying to keep Hofmann in close.
Hofmann throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Hofmann trying to control the position from guard on top but Aztlan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hofmann distracts Aztlan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Aztlan is trying to control the position but Hofmann postures up. Hofmann wants to control from the top but Aztlan keeps moving. Aztlan controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Aztlan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hofmann is controlling him.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Aztlan looks to score with a jab to the body but Hofmann is just out of range. Hofmann tries to counter with a takedown but Aztlan is quick to defend against it. Aztlan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Aztlan wants it to stay on the feet. Aztlan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hofmann moves away. Aztlan's corner calls for a 1-2. Aztlan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hofmann ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A swing and a miss from Aztlan. Hofmann appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Hofmann moves out of range of the body kick. Aztlan tests Hofmann's chin there with a solid looking shot. Aztlan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Aztlan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Aztlan throws a lazy body kick and Hofmann counters with a single leg into guard. Aztlan didn't expect that. Aztlan has Hofmann pulled in close to control his posture. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Albert Hofmann dominated that round. That's time! Hofmann's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hofmann bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Hofmann in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Hofmann misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Hofmann tries to advance to mount but Aztlan denies him. Hofmann working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hofmann trying to control the action but Aztlan is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hofmann throwing shots but missing, from side control. Aztlan tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hofmann wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hofmann throws an elbow but Aztlan slips to the side and avoids it well. Aztlan is looking to regain half guard here but Hofmann keeps moving and retains side control. Hofmann tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Aztlan manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hofmann wants to get back to full guard. Hofmann is positioning himself well to prevent Aztlan advancing to mount. Aztlan wants to control but Hofmann is keeping him busy. Hofmann has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Aztlan escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Aztlan! Hofmann is looking to reverse the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hofmann manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Aztlan is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Hofmann is pressing down on Aztlan's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Aztlan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hofmann looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hofmann keeping moving, preventing Aztlan from controlling successfully. Hofmann looking to hit a scissor sweep but Aztlan is one step ahead there. Hofmann looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Aztlan controls the pace of the fight for a moment. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Hofmann is pulling down on Aztlan's head. It's preventing any offense from Aztlan, at least for the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Aztlan fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hofmann on the side of the head. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Aztlan scores with a punch to the head. Aztlan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hofmann closes this distance looking for a takedown but Aztlan circles away. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Tonacatecuhtli Aztlan will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! Aztlan lands with a nice body punch. Aztlan attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Hofmann blocks a leg kick. Aztlan misses the jab. Hofmann changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Aztlan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. A bit of a lull in the action here. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Aztlan is working to avoid the ground and pound but Hofmann connects with a decent elbow. Albert Hofmann overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Aztlan is not content to let Hofmann control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hofmann looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hofmann in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Hofmann trying to control the action but Aztlan is working from the bottom. Hofmann controlling the position from side mount. Hofmann throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Aztlan tries to bench press Hofmann off him but Hofmann keeps the position. Hofmann working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hofmann wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aztlan, who protects the arm well. Hofmann wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aztlan keeps working. Hofmann lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. What's Aztlan going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle. Hofmann working the head with strikes. Hofmann lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Aztlan down.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aztlan manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Hofmann throwing shots but Aztlan is blocking nicely. Hofmann missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hofmann thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Hofmann is keen to just control but Aztlan is a slippery customer. Aztlan manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Hofmann keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. A head punch on the inside from Aztlan fails to land. Aztlan lands with a right to the head. Aztlan misses with a punch on the inside.
Aztlan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Aztlan throws a front kick that sends Hofmann stumbling back into the cage. Aztlan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hofmann manages to avoid it. Hofmann changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Aztlan throws a hook to the side of Hofmann's head but Hofmann sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aztlan misses with a leg kick and Hofmann counters with a nice double leg into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Aztlan is not content to let Hofmann control the position. Ground and pound from Hofmann. Hofmann is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Aztlan wants to get back to full guard. Hofmann throwing shots but Aztlan is blocking nicely. Hofmann content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Hofmann sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Aztlan defending well though.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Albert Hofmann. I think Hofmann has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by split decision... Tonacatecuhtli Aztlan! A relieved looking Tonacatecuhtli Aztlan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. Albert Hofmann was interviewed post fight and said 'I took too much.'.
