Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Danry Vasquez (ranked 4300 p4p, 4385 weight class) and Callum McCewen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasquez has closed the distance and engaged McCewen in a clinch.
Vasquez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McCewen landing knees to the head.
Vasquez blocks an uppercut.
Vasquez lands with a right to the head.

Vasquez manages to break the clinch.
A clash of legs there as Vasquez blocks the low kick.
McCewen throws a head kick but Vasquez moves out of range.
McCewen takes a swing at Vasquez's ribcage but misses.
Vasquez attempts a counter takedown but McCewen avoids it well and moves away.

Vasquez drives through and clinches with McCewen against the cage.

Vasquez tries to circle away but McCewen has him pinned against the cage.
McCewen tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vasquez avoids it.
Vasquez blocks an uppercut.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for McCewen.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McCewen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McCewen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vasquez's head.
McCewen seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McCewen has control of Vasquez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vasquez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McCewen wants to control the pace but Vasquez is squirming around nicely.
McCewen cracks Vasquez with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

McCewen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

McCewen sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
McCewen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Vasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McCewen on the ground.

Oh Vasquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big strike lands for McCewen! That's really hurt Vasquez and he's turned his back - McCewen keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! McCewen jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
