PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chief Red Eagle (ranked 2174 p4p, 1328 weight class) and Mitsugu Takeishi (ranked 108 p4p, 71 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Takeishi's choice of entrance music: Kabuki Gomen-Jyo. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mitsugu Takeishi!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Red Eagle misses with a two punch combination.

Red Eagle clinches up against the cage.
Takeishi is struggling to control the position.

Red Eagle breaks the clinch.

Red Eagle pushes Takeishi up against the cage in a clinch.
Red Eagle goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Red Eagle misses with the head strike.
Takeishi prevents a body shot from Red Eagle.

Red Eagle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Takeishi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Red Eagle thinking.
Red Eagle fails with an attempt to clinch.
Red Eagle stuffs the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeishi throws out a loose jab but Red Eagle uses good head movement to avoid it.
Red Eagle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Takeishi manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Takeishi misses with the combination.
Takeishi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Red Eagle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Red Eagle lands with a straight right. Takeishi didn't see that one coming.

Red Eagle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Red Eagle.
Red Eagle doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Red Eagle lands a shoulder strike.
Takeishi has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Red Eagle avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Chief Red Eagle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitsugu Takeishi.

Takeishi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Red Eagle doesn't manage to clinch there - Takeishi circles away.

Red Eagle tries to clinch up but Takeishi circles away and keeps his distance.
Takeishi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Takeishi throws a body punch but Red Eagle moves out of range.

Takeishi's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Red Eagle lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Takeishi looks winded!
Takeishi has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Red Eagle after a bit of a struggle.
Red Eagle misses with a punch to the body.
Red Eagle scores with a shot to the side of Takeishi's head.

Red Eagle drops Takeishi onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Takeishi is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

Takeishi is rocked!
Red Eagle throws a big uppercut that drops Takeishi! More strikes from Red Eagle and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Takeishi lies dazed against the cage as Red Eagle celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chief Red Eagle!
Chief Red Eagle opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
